DAY 16
WATCH THE DANCING HELICOPTER
H160 offers the smoothest flying experience around
When we presented the new H160 for its first test flight on 13 June 2015, this single aircraft represented the culmination of years of pioneering work by Airbus Helicopter engineers, integrating 68 different patented technologies to provide a step change in customer experience.
The aircraft, the first of a new generation of Airbus helicopters, combines precision performance and safety with style and comfort, providing the smoothest and quietest of flying experiences.
Amongst its 68 patents, the H160 integrates Airbus Helicopters’ latest technological innovations aimed at providing passengers with superior safety and comfort.
As the aircraft enters into service next year, Airbus engineers will ensure that it continues to set a new benchmark for helicopter design… and dancing!
When we gave some helicopter customers, including Ken Valentine who works in aircraft maintenance at GE, the chance fly in the H160, he gave it a full vote of confidence, commenting that “it was very smooth, predictable and confidence inspiring to a passenger.”
Rob Hirt, a helicopter customer from Suffolk Construction, agreed that it gives “more of an airline feel,” being “super quiet on the start-up, and quiet in cruise”.
In fact, thanks to the distinctively-shaped Blue Edge® blades, developed in cooperation with French aerospace lab ONERA, and Fenestron® shrouded tail rotor, the H160 produces half the sound level of a conventional helicopter.
Airbus engineers working across Germany and France also integrated the latest flight envelope protection systems, a high performing air-conditioning and heating system, and large windows to create a smooth, safe flight that ensures all passengers – whether in emergency rescue situations or corporate transport – have a comfortable journey.
