Pre-entry level assessment
At Airbus Helicopters, we are making a constant effort to improve our range of training courses in line with the highest quality and safety standards.
For all maintenance and pilot courses, customers will benefit from a free-of-charge online self-assessment on our Learner Portal to ensure the training will perfectly meet their requirements.
The English level of all our technician training courses is:
- Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) score 605-780 or equivalent
- Business Language Testing Service (BULATS) score 44-59 or equivalent.
Learners shall be able to read, write and communicate in English using the appropriate technical vocabulary as written in the helicopter maintenance documentation.
Our customers can benefit from a free online self-assessment in order to make sure that the language requirements are met by all learners.
The English level of all our technician training courses is:
- International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) - level 4 (Operational Level)
OR
- International English Testing System (IELTS) - level 5
OR
- Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) - score of 605-780.

Pre-entry level English Training Course
This one-week intensive course aims at preparing for a maintenance or flight training in English.
This course is strongly recommended for a score between 30-45% on our English Self-Assessment. Below that, we advise our customers to book an interpreter.
This Self-Assessment has been designed for Avionics Technicians in order to evaluate learners’ general knowledge and specific needs prior to the avionics type qualification course.
Pre-entry level Standard Practices Training Course
This two-week course for maintenance staff helps applicants adopt best practices. At the end of this course, they will have a solid background on:
- Technical documentation
- General maintenance procedures
- Safety instructions
This Self-Assessment has been designed for Mechanics Technicians in order to evaluate learners’ general knowledge and specific needs prior to the mechanics type qualification course.
Pre-entry level Mechanics Training Course
This one-week course is designed for mechanical technicians to both refresh and improve their general knowledge on basic helicopter systems, including the following:
- Airframe
- Dynamic, fuel and hydraulic systems
This Self-Assessment has been designed for Avionics Technicians in order to evaluate learners’ general knowledge and specific needs prior to the avionics type qualification course.
Pre-entry level Avionics Training Course
This one-week course is designed for avionics technicians to refresh and improve general knowledge on basic avionics systems, including:
- Electrical power system, lighting system
- Flight control system
- Radio communication & radio navigation
